Lyrics

Blue Ridge

I am a fiddlin’ boy. The Highlands were my home
“Displaced by sheep” I sailed for the colonies alone
I left for land in America in 1763
I settled in the Blue Ridge. It’s here I want to be

Hear the song as it echoes ‘round the valley
Play the tunes that time can’t erase
We bring our past into a new tomorrow
We give our hearts and music to this place

When war broke out for freedom my choice was very clear
I fought against the British for the new land I hold dear
Friends and neighbors felt compelled to join the British side
Soulful pipes from the Highlands were played when they died

Hear the song as it echoes ‘round the valley
Play the tunes that time can’t erase
We bring our past into a new tomorrow
We give our hearts and music to this place

The mountains and the meadows give us all we need
We harvest in the Autumn, the bounty from the seed
I have my pipes and fiddle to play the Highland way
I long to see my homeland, but the music lets me stay

Hear the song as it echoes ‘round the valley
Play the tunes that time can’t erase
We bring our past into a new tomorrow
We give our hearts and music to this place

Hear the song as it echoes down the river
Play the tunes that time can’t erase
We bring our past into a new tomorrow
We give our hearts and music to this place
